Which legends stand out for the Houston Oilers/turned Tennessee Titans?

The Houston Oilers were part of the original American Football League in 1960. The league consisted of just eight teams but nonetheless, this franchise from the Lone Star State (born the same year as the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys) would win the AFL’s first two championships.

There would also be some lean times for the franchise. And 1996 proved to be the team’s final season in Houston and at the Astrodome. The Tennessee Oilers would turn into a traveling road show the following two years and finally in ’99, become the Titans. The new look obviously paid off as the club made its first and only Super Bowl appearance in what proved to a be a 23-16 setback to the then-St. Louis Rams.

These days, the team is coming off a 2019 season in which they came up one victory away from a return trip to the “Big Game.” This is a franchise with a rich history on both sides of the ball. CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Former Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Cheap Albert Haynesworth Jersey was arrested Monday after he was accused of threatening and yelling at his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend.

Cleveland, Tennessee, police officers responded at 4:34 p.m. to a report that Haynesworth was yelling at his ex-girlfriend, according to a statement from the police. The woman told officers Haynesworth had driven there from his home in Franklin, Tennessee, 160 miles away, after making threats to physically harm her and her boyfriend. No physical assault was reported, according to the police statement.

“After being told multiple times to stop yelling and cursing, Haynesworth was taken into custody, charged with domestic assault and disorderly conduct and transported to the Bradley County Justice Center,” the statement reads.

A spokesman for the sheriff’s office said Tuesday that Haynesworth had been released on $1,500 bond. An email to a lawyer who has previously represented Haynesworth was not immediately returned Tuesday afternoon.

Haynesworth has been receiving dialysis since his kidneys failed. After he revealed the news last summer, Vanderbilt University Medical Center said it had more than 1,000 calls and offers to donate a kidney or ask about the process within a day. However, he has not yet received a transplant.

Haynesworth played 10 seasons in the NFL. He spent his first seven seasons with the Titans, who selected him No. 15 overall in the 2002 draft out of the University of Tennessee. Haynesworth also played for Washington, New England and Tampa Bay.

He was selected as an All-Pro after the 2007 and 2008 seasons and had 30-plus sacks in 123 games.

Haynesworth had his greatest season in 2008, when he had 8.5 sacks while leading the Titans to a 13-3 record and the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC before they lost to the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional playoffs.

NASHVILLE – A pair of Titans have been selected as Pro Bowlers for their work during the 2020 season – running back Derrick Henry, and receiver A.J. Brown.

Henry, who leads the NFL with 1,679 rushing yards in 2020, has already established a new career high for rushing yards in a season, surpassing the 1,540 yards he had in 2019. Henry has nine 100-yard rushing game in 2020.

With two games remaining in 2020, Henry’s rushing yards total ranks as the fourth-best single-season total in franchise history behind Cheap Chris Johnson Jersey 2,006 yards in 2009, Cheap Earl Campbell Jersey 1,934 yards in 1980, and Campbell’s 1,697 yards in 1979.

Henry, who also has 15 rushing touchdowns this season, joined Terrell Davis (1997-98), Shaun Alexander (2004-05) and Larry Johnson (2005-06) on Sunday as the only players in NFL history to rush for 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns in two consecutive seasons.

NASHVILLE – Titans coach Mike Vrabel held a video conference call on Monday, one day after the team’s 46-25 win over the Detroit Lions.

Next up for the Titans is a game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night at Lambeau Field.

Here’s a look at some of the hot topics from today’s call:

Big Challenge Coming Up

The Titans are now 10-4, and the 10 wins are the most by the Titans since 2008.

But there’s no time to relax.

The Titans haven’t clinched a playoff spot, and the high-flying Green Bay Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers are up next.

The Packers (11-3) are fourth in the NFL in total offense, and third in points per game. Rodgers has thrown for 3,828 yards, with 40 touchdowns and only four interceptions.

“We’re going against probably the best team we’ve faced all year, and a team that doesn’t lose in December up at Lambeau (Field),” Vrabel said. “The quarterback has thrown 40 touchdowns, and they rarely turn it over. So it will be a huge challenge.”

The Packers, of course, are coached by former Titans offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur.

“I have a lot of respect for Matt, who worked here with us,” Vrabel said. “(Things) probably look a little different than what it looked like here offensively, and I think that is just about growth and taking advantage of personnel and what people are doing. They run it effectively, and they like favorable looks and matchups and their quarterback will take advantage of it. Aaron does a good job of getting the ball out of his hand and making a lot of those things work. So, we’ll have to be good against whatever scheme things they have for us and obviously the bread and butter. They are No.1 in a lot of areas, and they function at a high level.”

Red-Hot Offense

The Titans, of course, have been pretty efficient on offense themselves.

Here’s proof:

–The 46 points scored by the Titans on Sunday were the most for the team since Nov. 13, 2016, when they earned a 47-25 victory over the Packers.

-The 46 points against the Lions ranks as the third-highest total by the Titans in a game at Nissan Stadium.

-The Titans’ 463 yards on offense gave them five consecutive games with at least 400 total net yards. It’s the second-longest streak in franchise history and the longest since a six-game stretch from Dec. 3, 1961 to Sept. 23, 1962.

-With 46 points and 463 total yards against the Lions, the Titans became the fifth team in NFL history to record a streak of five consecutive games with at least 30 points and 420 yards.

-The Titans’ seven games in 2020 with 30 points and 420 total yards give them the second-highest total in franchise history behind the eight such performances by the Oilers in 1961.

-The Titans have scored 30-plus points nine time this season, and 40-plus points four times.

Vrabel said “there’s areas that we have to continue to improve.”

“Some of the details,” Vrabel said, “and some of the technique that we try to focus on that we think are important.”

What’s next for Adoree’?

Titans cornerback Adoree’ Jackson played for the first time this season on Sunday after missing the first 13 games with a knee injury.

Jackson played 27 snaps, and he was credited with two tackles.

“I think he is feeling OK, probably about how he felt last week,” Vrabel said of Jackson. “We had probably targeted (for him to play) about 20-30 snaps, and it was good to see him get back out there and contribute.”

A Confident Cheap Corey Davis Jersey

Titans receiver Corey Davis recorded his fifth 100-yard receiving game of the season, and the sixth 100-yard receiving game of his career.

Davis now has a career-high 945 receiving yards this season.

When Vrabel watches Davis, he sees growth.

“I think his comfort level,” Vrabel said of Davis, before continuing. “Corey has been very durable, and we ask him to go in there and block. … His confidence level us up, and he is running better routes.”

What About the Defense?

The Titans didn’t record a sack once again on Sunday, and the team still has just 14 sacks in 14 games this season.

Vrabel said the team continues to work to improve in that area.

Rodgers has been sacked 18 times this season.

“We certainly have to do a better job of everybody being involved in helping disrupt the passing game,” Vrabel said. “We’ll get back to work at it with the players tomorrow in meetings, and Wednesday on the field.”

Darrynton Evans Impact

On a day when Cheap Derrick Henry Jersey ran for 147 yards and a touchdown, another Titans running back flashed on Sunday as well.

Rookie Cheap Darrynton Evans Jersey ran for 30 yards on eight carries, including a nine-yard run. Evans also caught two passes for 27 yards, including a three-yard touchdown. Evans also returned two kicks for a 22.5-yard average.

“It was good to get him back out there,” Vrabel said of Evans, who played for the first time since the team’s October 13 game against the Bills. “I really like the screen, and I really like the fact that he didn’t run out of bounds. Hopefully we can block for him better on kickoff return and keep working him in. … We’ll see what the game plan looks like this week and we’ll see where everybody fits.”

Amani Hooker’s Versatility

With safety Cheap Kenny Vaccaro Jersey inactive for the second straight week, second-year player Cheap Amani Hooker Jersey stepped in and started once again.

Hooker was credited with seven tackles in the game.

Vrabel complimented Hooker for his improvement from Year 1 to Year 2, and for his value on special teams and in the defense.

“I don’t think you even want to put a ceiling on his (growth), but he has a lot of different roles and he knows a lot of different positions,” Vrabel said of Hooker. “I think that he could help us out at other places, and he has made some plays and been productive. He has to continue to improve, but his versality … he can play more positions than just safety.”

Henry played in his first Pro Bowl last season.

Derrick Henry + Cheap A.J. Brown Jersey selected to 2021 Pro Bowl

— Tennessee Titans (@Titans) December 22, 2020
Brown, meanwhile, has been selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career.

A second-round pick of the Titans in the 2019 NFL Draft, Brown has 56 catches for 881 yards and 10 touchdowns during the 2020 season.

His two-yard touchdown catch in Sunday’s game against the Lions gave him a career-high 10 touchdown catches in 2020. He joined Cheap Drew Bennett Jersey (11 in 2004) as the only players in the team’s “Titans era” (since 1999) with 10 or more touchdown receptions in a season.

Brown has at least one touchdown reception in nine of the 12 games in which he has appeared in 2020.

Brown has seven career 100-yard receiving performances, including three in 2020 (vs. Pittsburgh, vs. Chicago, at Jacksonville). He became the franchise’s third player to eclipse 1,500 career receiving yards before his 24th birthday at 23 years and 131 days old against Chicago (11/8/20). He also became the fourth player in franchise history with at least eight touchdown receptions in back-to-back seasons.

In 2019, Brown led the Titans in every major receiving category, totaling 52 catches for 1,051 yards and eight touchdowns. Among all rookies in franchise history, he ranked third in receiving yards and fifth in receptions, and he tied for the third-highest receiving touchdown total. Brown led the 2019 NFL rookie class in receiving yards.

The Pro Bowlers are determined by the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. During the fan voting portion, Henry finished as No.3 vote-getter among fans at all positions behind only quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) and Russell Wilson (Seahawks), and he was first in votes among running backs. Brown was not in the top 10 in votes in the fan voting portion.

The NFL on Monday announced all the AFC and NFC All-Stars for the 2021 Pro Bowl presented by Verizon, an all-new virtual Pro Bowl experience within Madden NFL 21. On January 31, the players will be celebrated during two Pro Bowl-themed shows airing on an ESPN/ABC simulcast from 2-4 pm CST, and on NFL Network from 4-5 pm CST.
